Mariage Frerès has been selling 500 types of tea from 35 different Countries from mid ‘800, and it’s so fun to go there!
As soon as I get in, I’m welcomed by a really unique atmosphere, made of old fashioned teapots, waiters dressed with colonial linen clothes, intense smells and I immediately feel like browsing around. But also buying some loose tea, or some boxes I can give as a present – even if I go there the most to enjoy a different kind of lunch, or an elegant brunch.
So: from noon to 6.30pm you can always find the “Snob salad” (foie gras, smoked salmon, prawns, vegetables and tea vinaigrette), pork roast, green tea soy sauce and many other options, together with some delicious desserts – like the “Misterious star” cheesecake, or the Marco Polo’s tea crème brulée.
The one in Marais in only one out of the four shops in Paris, but I think it’s the best one (besides from being the first one). You can stop even just to have some tea, that will be prepared on a oak counter with some purified water at the right temperature, and served after resting the right amount of time. You won’t be disappointed. And you could go to Paris without stopping by the Mariage Frères?
