In any shape or form, for me apple pie is always in my top ten favorite desserts. With the apple crumble version I found a yummy alternative to more classic recipes like the granny’s apple pie, the refined tarte tatin or the strudel from the North. Apple crumble combines a soft filling of stewed fruit and a crunchy surface on the top – made with flour, butter and sugar.
It’s a typical English dessert, that can be stuffed with other kinds of fruit besides from apples: peaches, berries, and it’s served warm with some ice cream or whipped cream on the side.

Apple crumble: ingredienti

700 gr mele renette
mezzo limone
mezzo cucchiaino cannella
180 gr zucchero semolato
200 gr farina 00
120 gr burro
gelato alla vaniglia o panna montata

Procedimento

Apple crumble: ingredients

700 gr of apples
half a lemon
half a teaspoon of cinnamon
180 gr of sugar
200 gr of flour
120 gr of butter
vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

How to make it

Peel the apples, cut them into small pieces or thick slices, put them into a bowl and add 50 grams of sugar, the juice of a lemon and cinnamon.
In the meantime, make the crumble working quickly with the flour, the remaining sugar and the butter (that you need to cut into small pieces); you’ll end up with a crumbled mixture.
Grease a baking dish, put the apples into it and cover them with the crumble.
Put it into the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
As soon as it becomes slightly golden, take it out of the oven and let it cool a bit.
Serve the apple crumble with some ice cream or whipped cream.
