Let’s not talk about the same old new year’s resolutions. Let’s leave the same old goal list for the next 365 days behind.
Another year is gone, and one is ahead of us.

If I think of how I was one year ago, I see myself in front of a mirror, not recognizing what I see.

Do you remember when I talked to you about my little journey I started for myself?

Well, this day lays year I didn’t think I would have been so strong to make it through it.
If I think about myself one year ago, I see a little girl – compared to who I am now.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the most mature girl on the planet; but 2013 has been hard, overwhelming, made of crying, terrible stomachaches and holding tight onto a pillow.

You know what my mother told me the other day? “I’m proud of you”.
I was shocked. Did I do something special I wasn’t aware of? I mean, I’m not graduated yet – even if most of my college friends now are. I haven’t found a man that can love me for who I am. I can’t fly high enough to make my dreams – the real ones – come true.

My mother’s answer was a loud and clear “fuck off”.
“My 24 year old little girl has a job and she’s not even graduated yet. She pays for her own mortgage, she’s self-sufficient and moved to a different city without looking back – ever”.

I can’t really realize and understand what I’ve actually done for my age; I can only keep climbing this huge mountain I see in front of myself.

Last year, I only wanted to lose weight, be noticed by a fashion magazine and feel realized.

As for now, I’ve lost 9 kilos; but I feel like I still have a long way to go.

What I wish for myself in this 2014 is just happiness.
Not for other people, not with other people. But with myself first.

Because right now I feel it’s the one and only thing I really need.
