Coco Chanel è da sempre un’icona di stile, classe e bellezza. Su di lei sono stati scritti romanzi, biografie, film.
Quest’anno la stilista francese sarà anche il soggetto principale della mostra che verrà inaugurata questo mese al London College of Fashion (LCF). In essa potrete ammirare i ritratti realizzati da una sua amica, l’artista californiana Marion Pike.
Si ruoterà intorno alla loro amicizia, approfondendo le loro storie e le loro influenze creative. Marion e Coco si incontrarono per la prima volta nel 1967, quando l’artista californiana chiese alla stilista di poterle fare un ritratto – un quadro su larga scala che rende omaggio alle sue capacità di colorista.
Nella mostra potrete ammirare 5 ritratti di Coco Chanel, accanto a pezzi di alta sartoria indossati da Marion e sua figlia, Jeffie Pike Durham, alle quali fu dato in prestito ciascuno degli abiti esposti.
Curata dal professore della LCF Amy de la Haye, la mostra sarà aperta dal 4 settembre al 16 novembre, presso la Fashion Space Gallery dell’Università, in John Princes Street, London W1.
Se siete interessate ma non volete volare fino a Londra per ammirare i bellissimi quadri di Marion Pike, non disperate: la mostra arriverà anche a Milano presso Palazzo Morando, precisamente dal 6 dicembre 2013 al 2 marzo 2014.

This year, the French designer will also be the subject of an exhibition that will be hold at the London College of Fashion (LCF). The display will feature portraits of the designer taken by her friend, Californian artist Marion Pike.
The showcase will look at the friendship between the two, exploring their life stories and their creative influences. Pike first met Chanel in 1967, when she was asked to create the designer’s portrait – a large-scale painting that pays homage to her skills as a colourist.
The exhibition will feature five portraits of Coco Chanel, alongside couture pieces worn by Pike and her daughter, Jeffie Pike Durham, who loaned each of the displayed pieces.
Curated by LCF professor Amy de la Haye, the display is on show between September 4 and November 16 at the college’s Fashion Space Gallery on John Princes Street, London W1.
